Why Choose Roller Shades?

Roller shades, often referred to as “roller blinds,” are the perfect choice for the home or office. Here are a few reasons that we recommend roller shades to our customers:

  •  Roller shades can pull a room together utilizing gorgeous and coordinated patterns or solid styles
  • Roller shades are very easy to clean, meaning they will continue to look like new, even after years of use.

What Kinds of Features Come With Roller Shades?

There are plenty of ways that you can upgrade or customize a set of roller blinds beyond normal style or color. Here are some of the ways that you can customize or upgrade your roller shades:

  • Get a cordless lift: Cordless lifts are very popular options for those who want to hide their control systems. Hiding a control system eliminates lift cords from view, keeping the look of your roller shades far less cluttered. Plus, you can easily raise or lower your roller shades with the touch of a finger using a cordless lift.
  • Opacity Control: With different designs in terms of opacity, you can pick the amount of light that you want to let into your room at any given time. You can pick between light filtering materials or blackout materials depending on how much control you want over the light in your room and the privacy you desire.
  • Adding Continuous Cord Loop Controls: With continuous cord loop controls, you can secure the cord on your roller shades to the window frame or wall. You won’t have to deal with as many cords on your window shades that are blatantly on display. Continuous cord loop controls are an excellent choice for those who have larger of heavier window treatments.
  • Add Motorized Controls: With motorized controls, you can raise and lower your roller shades by using a button instead of a cord. Motorized designs are excellent for windows that are difficult to reach. In homes with children or pets, motorized options can be much safer, as you don’t have to worry about the choking hazards that arise from cords. For media rooms or bathrooms where light control and privacy control are constant, motorized shades can be a great choice.
  • Roller Shades Outdoor: Patio areas or windows facing high sun light you would like to be filtered when enjoying some outside air benefit greatly with  vinyl roller shades for outdoor use.

Blackout Roller Shades

The Blackout Roller Shades at Affordable Blinds are great for privacy and light control, though they also put a fashion-forward face on window treatments. Our huge collection of blackout roller shades include trendy tweeds, on-trend solids, fresh patterns, and bold stripe designs.

Roller blackout shades are an excellent choice for bedrooms or media rooms thanks to the fact that they completely eliminate sunlight from getting into the room. Plus, they provide a sleek and custom look that you can only get from high-quality window shades.

Our blackout roller shades come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors. No matter what you are looking for, we guarantee you will be able to find it in our collection.

Light Filtering Roller Shades

Light-filtering roller shades are an extremely popular choice, as they work in just about any environment. The light filtering roller shades in our lineup here at Affordable Blinds help put a gorgeous face on privacy while filtering out harsh sunlight. Our collection is made up of a variety of tweedy textures, on-trend solid, jacquard-woven fabrics, subtle stripes, and linen effects.

No matter what you are looking for to help elevate the decor in your home, we believe that you will be able to find what you are looking for here at Affordable Blinds.

The light-filtering shades in our lineup are some of the easiest to use. They come available in a wide variety of lifts so that you can meet the unique needs of your home. Plus, you can opt for a decorative valance if you want to take your customization game a step further.

Out light-filtering shades exude both style and practicality. They will help retain the views from your window while adding a bit of privacy and warmth to any room. If you choose the right style, they can easily become a solid focal point for any room.

We have plenty of lift options with our light filtering roller shades, including beaded chains, which are great for large-scale or heavy shades. The spring-tension roller, otherwise known as our cordless design, is the best option for completely hassle-free operation. You won’t ever have to worry about your cords getting tangled.

You may want to consider adding a valance on top of your shade as well, as it can act as the perfect finishing touch for your window treatments. If you have an inside mount, you should order some light gap blockers, as they can help get rid of the light gaps on the inside of your window.

How To Install Inside Mount Roller Shades

If you took measurements for inside mount roller shades, you can follow these simple steps for installation:

  •  Use a pencil to make a mark 1” from the front top corner of the window casing
  • Use to mark and your bracket to mark the location for the screw. Repeat the process on the opposite side for the other bracket
  • Ensure the brackets are straight by using a level tool or a steel measuring tape
  • Create starter holes using a hammer and a screwdriver by slowly tapping at the mark points. You can also use a drill. Either way, doing so will make it much easier for you to fasten your screws.
  • Securely screw your brackets into place
  • Mount your shades using the end with the round pin first. Next, push your spring-loaded idle end in and release atop the center bracket so that it snaps into place.
  • Test out your new shades by slowly pulling on them to ensure that you get even movement across the entirety of the shades.

Solar Roller Shades

There are times when you need just a bit of extra UV protection when preserving a wonderful view. The best thing about solar roller shades is that they can reduce the amount of incoming heat that you have to deal with all while reducing glare, making them an excellent option for bedrooms and entertainment rooms.

Plus, because solar shades have UV-blocking properties, you never have to worry about damage to your furnishings because of harmful direct sunlight throughout certain times of the day.

Solar roller shades come in a wide variety of great materials, including textured textiles, sleek modern fabrics, tailored wovens, and much, much more. On each collection, you’ll find the opacity facto, which ranges from 1% to 14%. These percentages tell you how much light a particular window shade will allow in. A window shade with a higher percentage will allow more natural light to flow in and will provide a much more open view, though you won’t get to enjoy as much privacy.

There are plenty of design options in our solar roller shade lineup, including cordless and continuous cord loop options. You can even select from a number of reverse roll options, perfect for avoiding handles and cranks found on older windows.

How To Install Outside Mount Roller Shades

If you took measurements for outside mount roller shades, you can follow these simple steps for installation:

  •  Hold up your shades in the exact location where you would like to place them and use a level tool or steel measuring tape to ensure that they are centered. Use a pen to make a mark at both ends.
  • Measure two inches from each of those pencil marks and ⅓” up from the window top to get your bracket positions.
  • Use the marks to get your brackets in place and mark locations for the screws.
  • Create starter holes using a hammer and a screwdriver by slowly tapping at the mark points. You can also use a drill. Once done, screw your brackets into places and ensure that the locking mechanism can move freely.
  • Position the front groove of your shade back bar on the lip of the back and rotate up until you hear it snap into place.
  • If you have a shade that came with an additional valance, you can mount your valance by simply sliding it over the shade until it locks in place.
  • Test out your new shades by slowly pulling on them to ensure that you get even movement across the entirety of the shades.
